Showcasing the Dominant Force in NZ 2YO Ranks

logo

Ever since his first crop hit the track in 2015, former Haunui Farm stallion Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream) has never ventured far from the top of New Zealand’s 2YO sires table.

That first crop produced four 2YO winners from 14 starters including the coveted Karaka Million with Hardline, G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes with Showboy along with a further two stakes performers putting Showcasing at the top of the General 2YO and First Season Sires tables for his freshman season.

His second crop produced 7 winners from 18 starters and included G3 winner Caorunn and three other stakes performers including Karaka Million runner-up Showmeyamoneyhoney. Crop number three saw 5 winners from 17 starters in their juvenile season and included Champion 2YO of Singapore Be Bee.

Last season saw Showcasing finish the season as New Zealand’s leading sire of 2YO winners, a position he has filled since 2016. This crop produced G2 winners Xpression and Bit Lippy, Listed winner Atenartin and multiple stakes performer She’s A Thief.

This brings us to the current season which is shaping to be Showcasing’s best 2YO haul yet with 7 winners from 13 runners to date, including two stakes performers and two fillies who are qualified for the Karaka Million and look set to continue Showcasing’s run of having a Karaka Million starter from each crop.

Karaka 2019 will see Showcasing’s second-to-last crop of Southern Hemisphere foals go through the ring and if buyers are looking for an early type who could take out New Zealand’s richest 2YO race, then the 48 yearlings catalogued by Showcasing should be at the top of the viewing list.
