Two-year-old colt Soldier's Call (GB) (Showcasing) has some lofty targets looming after an impressive two-and-a-quarter length victory in the G2 Flying Childers Stakes (5f3yds) at Doncaster over the weekend.

A Listed and G3 winner before weekend's racing, Soldier's Call landed his G2 somewhat effortlessly and trainer Archie Watson is looking to step the colt up to G1 company with the Prix de l'Abbaye on the 7th of October his likely next mission, with a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint also a possibility.

"He's a very, very good horse and he's got blistering pace," Watson told The Racing Post in a post-race interview.  "In my eyes he's the best sprinting 2YO in the country and he's progressing with every run."

Showcasing is enjoying another stellar 2YO season in the Northern Hemisphere with six stakes performed 2YO's including G1 winning filly Advertise and multiple Group winner Soldier's Call.  He's had 38 starters for 13 winners to date with a stakes performers to runners ratio of 16%.

In the Southern Hemisphere, Showcasing ended the 2017/2018 season as New Zealand's leading 2YO sire by winners and this weekend, his G2 winning filly Xpression (NZ) (Showcasing) will take aim at her first black type assignment of her Classic season, the G3 Gold Trail Stakes at Hawke's Bay with the G1 1000 Guineas her main target this preparation.

Showcasing's final Southern Hemisphere crop of foals are arriving this spring and his penultimate crop of yearlings will hit the sales ring in January.
