Perfect Result in Haunui Farm WFA Classic

It was the perfect ending to the G1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic (1600m) at Otaki on Saturday with Haunui Farm graduate MELODY BELLE (NZ) (Commands) powering to victory down the centre of the track.

With four G1 wins under her belt this season, the four-year-old mare looks set to take Horse of the Year honours at the end of the season but it might not be over yet with a possible tilt at a 5th G1 for the season in the Bonecrusher Stakes over 2000m at Ellerslie on Auckland Cup Day.

To cap things off, IFFRAAJ (GB) (Zafonic) 5YO WYNDSPELLE (NZ) provided the quinella to land his fifth G1 placing of his career, sneaking up the inside in the early stages of the run home and initially looking likely of causing an upset.

Haunui Farm's Sales & Marketing Manager, Shannon Taylor, said, "We certainly couldn't have asked for a better field to be assembled and many commented on the day that it was probably the best G1 WFA field of the season.  We have sponsored this race for nine years and it was truly the icing on the cake for Melody Belle to take it out and with her as the winner, a multiple G1 performer finishing runner-up, and another multiple G1 winner in Consensus finishing third, the race is sure to maintain a very high rating going forward."
