Haunui Filly in Inglis Easter On-Line Auction

Haunui’s one and only 2020 Inglis Easter yearling is Lot 463 and will be offered under the draft of Little Avondale Stud.

Haunui Farm’s Managing Director, Mark Chitty says, “We’re obviously operating in quite uncertain times at the moment and after some tooing and froing, we decided that we would stick with the ship and present this filly through Little Avondale’s draft, in the online auction.

“I really applaud Mark Webster and his team at Inglis in presenting vendors with this opportunity. While it’s not the traditional way we would sell our top-end yearlings, who knows, this could open up a whole new way of conducting sales going forward and we’re happy to be a part of it.”

Out of FLYING SPUR mare FULL OF SPIRIT – winner of the Adrian Knox and 4th in the ATC Oaks in her Classic season, and multiple Group performer on both sides of the Tasman as an older mare – this filly’s immediate family highlights her outstanding residual value.

FULL OF SPIRIT is a half-sister to two-time New Zealand Horse of the Year, BONNEVAL as well as three other Group winners and being out of a daughter of ZABEEL, ticks another box on the pedigree score.

This filly is her 4th foal – her 2YO full sister fetched $200,000 to the bid of Cambridge Stud at last year’s New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale and has had her first trial for trainer Tony Pike, whilst her Medaglia d’Oro 3YO half-sister was retained and is in the stable of Jamie Richards. FULL OF SPIRIT has a PIERRO filly at foot.

Mark continues, “This filly has really come on in the last few weeks and given she’s spent the last week in the paddock due to the lockdown situation here in New Zealand, I couldn’t be happier with her. She has more quality and physicality than her 2YO full sister at the same stage and she’s a little deceptive size wise, standing at 15.2hh. She’s shown a good attitude during the prep and once she gets rolling, she has a nice way about her.

“The Easter Sale is renowned for high class fillies and this filly holds plenty of residual being out of a Group winning, G1 performing half-sister to two-time Horse of the Year and multiple G1 winner in Australia, Bonneval. With very few fillies from this pedigree available in the market, she provides an outstanding opportunity from the broodmare paddock once her racing days are completed.”
