Ferlax Making His Mark

logo

He may have had only three seasons in the serving barn but ill-fated G1 Australian Guineas-winner FERLAX (NZ) (Pentire), is certainly making his presence felt with his first crop.

Leading the pack is dual G2 winner, IMELDA MARY (NZ). A prime example of a fairy tale story in the thoroughbred industry, she was purchased for just $3,500 by trainer from the then Festival Sale by trainer, Wayne Hillis. Named after his ailing mother, IMELDA MARY already has the trophies for the Royal Stakes and Sir Tristram Fillies Classic safely in the trophy cabinet. She currently sits first equal in the NZB Filly of the Year Series and, heads to Trentham next week as a leading contender for the G1 New Zealand Oaks.

From his first crop of just 52 foals - currently 3YO’s - FERLAX has had 17 starters for four winners. Importantly, two of those winners have been in our major export markets of Australia and Hong Kong and there is sure to be plenty more to come.
