Another Big Weekend for Haunui Stallions

It was another great weekend on the track for the Haunui stallions – a new stakes winner for Iffraaj, another G1 for Belardo’s sire Lope De Vega and a trio of winners for Showcasing – to continue the farm’s momentum in the Autumn.

Iffraaj recorded his 25th stakes winner in the Southern Hemisphere when Who Dares Wins proved far too good for his opposition in the Listed Easter Cup (1600m). With 68 stakes winners worldwide, Iffraaj will return to Haunui Farm in 2019 with his service fee to be announced in the coming weeks.

Whilst no longer shuttling to Haunui Farm, Showcasing continues to make his presence felt among our stallion ranks with a double at Counties yesterday – Intrigue and Weka Force – whilst Exemplar did the job at Riccarton and Shezatoucha went agonisingly close to making it a double double for her sire.

Haunui’s young sire Belardo has his first foals heading to Australasian weanling sales over the coming months. The only son of Lope De Vega at stud in Australasia, his appeal was further enhanced with the barnstorming effort of another son of Lope De Vega, Santa Ana Lane, in the G1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. The Champion 2YO of Europe in 2016 and a dual G1 winner, Belardo will join Iffraaj at Haunui in 2019 for his third season.
