Don Eduardo (NZ)

Zabeel – Diamond Lover by Sticks And Stones, 1998, b h, 16.2 hh

Mr Versatility

Service Fee $7,000 + GST

Mr Versatility, Don Eduardo has proven he can leave genuine Group One sprinters and stayers and in the 2010/2011 season alone, he has left five stakes winners led by dual Group One-winner Booming. A son of the mighty Zabeel, Don Eduardo’s first crop features seven stakes winners, five of those at Group level and includes three Group One-performers.

A viable option in the commercial market, Don Eduardo’s yearlings fetched up to $90,000 at Karaka 2011 where he topped the Festival Sale with a price of $60,000 and his sale average exceeded over five times his current service fee.

Still New Zealand’s highest priced yearling at $3.6 million, Don Eduardo is an AJC Derby-winner and a member of the famed Eight Carat family – the best family in the New Zealand studbook. Out of the Group One Railway Stakes-winner Diamond Lover, Don Eduardo has already left six Group performing fillies and mares to date making his fillies a welcome addition to any broodmare band in the future.

The Sir Tristram/Zabeel influence in Don Eduardo’s pedigree is prevalent in the success of his progeny in the major Cups races of New Zealand and Australia however, the speed influence of his dam is well and truly evident through the success of his sprinting progeny and is a factor that cannot be overlooked.
