Welcome to the second edition of the Haunui Farm Priority Club Newsletter.
The last two months have been very busy here at Haunui with the arrival of the first foals of the season and bookings to the stallions sky rocketing!
Today we have announced that Iffraaj’s book for 2010 is officially closed. With the flying start he has made to his stud career with his first Northern Hemisphere crop of two-year-olds, the phone has been ringing red hot and we in fact ceased taking bookings to Iffraaj last Monday! After the disappointment of Iffraaj missing his first intended season at Haunui due to the outbreak of EI in Australia, it may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise and we are certainly reaping the rewards now!
The first foal for the 2010 season arrived at Haunui on the 5th of August, a nice, strong Don Eduardo colt out of Shades Of Silk. Now, almost four weeks later, we have 16 foals on the ground and the feeling of Spring has certainly arrived.
September 1st heralded the official start to the breeding season and Iffraaj was the lucky one to get his first trip to the breeding barn on the first day of Spring. Both he and Elusive City are now into their work for 2010 and Don Eduardo gets his chance to get off the mark tomorrow – something he is certainly looking forward to!
The 31st of August was the cut-off date for entering our special prize draw to win a free service to Don Eduardo for the 2010 breeding season. As priority club members, you have automatically qualified for the draw which will take place at Haunui on Sunday 5th September after the parading of the stallions as part of the Auckland Stud Tour. If you are unable to be here on the day, don’t worry, we will definitely be in touch however if you can make it, we would be delighted to see you.
The Auckland Stud Tour kicks off at Haunui at 10.30am and will then move on to NZB at Karaka, Te Runga Stud in Pukekohe and will finish at Westbury Stud. For more information, please feel free to contact Shannon at the Haunui office – 09 530 8736 or, Ruth Hargreaves, the Secretary of the Auckland Branch of the NZTBA – 09 267 9760. Attend all four stops on the day, fill in an entry form, and answer the questions correctly and, you can be in the draw to win a free service to your choice of one of the following stallions: Buffalo Man, Castledale, Cecconi, Don Eduardo, Sirocco or Strategic Image.

Now, for the announcement you have all been waiting for! The winner of our inaugural Haunui Farm Priority Club draw – a veterinary package for the 2010 breeding season. This package includes all procedures related to getting your mare in foal for the 2010 breeding season such as foal heat examination, pre-service palpations and scans, post service procedures, pregnancy scans and the like and has an approximate minimum value of $500.
Tim is based in the South Island and has been a loyal supporter of Haunui Farm and our stallions over the last four seasons. This year, he has a mare booked to Iffraaj and another to Elusive City so the veterinary package is sure to come in handy!
Next month, the Priority Club draw will be for a voucher from Majestic Horse Transport. Until then, we wish you all the best for the breeding season ahead and best of luck on the racetrack as well – it is certainly great to see G1 racing back underway!
Kind regards,
The Team at Haunui
